	Many thanks to you and your colleagues for your hospitality
in Peking.

	The artificial intelligence summer school is still not definite.
Professor Takasu is trying to arrange it, and if he can't Professor
Igarashi of Tsukuba University will also try.  However, the Japanese
have difficulty organizing such things on short notice, especially
since Japanese unvuniversities still haven't developed the practice of using student
dormitories for housing conference attendees during vacations.  They
will let me know early in October whether they have been successful.

	The newspapers have just published the fact that six
Chinese scholars will come to Stanford in October, and Dr. Douglas
Murray tells me that two will be from your Institute including
Prof. xxx, who is scheduled to work with Professor Knuth.  If this
is all correct, you will soon have first hand information about what
aspects of computer science at Stanford.  As I said, I am
also in a position to welcome scholars who have common interests
with the Stanford Arificial Intelligence Laboratory.

	I hope I will have the opportunity to return your
hospitality.
